Weapons Used on the Pacific Front
Japanese Handguns:
Nambu Pistol- Was a 8 mm semi-automatic which superficially resembled a German Lugar. It is regarded as the worst military pistol ever issued.

American Handguns:
Colt Semiautomatic Pistol- The pistol was ubiquitous in American forces. Was an excellent design by John Browning; it has a large 0.45 which made it the most powerful pistol used in the war. It was strong and safe, and remarkably accurate for a pistol and probably the finest pistol that was produced during the war. Its only drawback was that it rounds were a little to powerful and took a large amount of practice to fire accurately.

Japanese Tanks:
Japanese Type 97 Tank- Was a standard Japanese medium 15-ton tank. Its maximum armor protection was only 25mm. Was armed with 57mm cannon and bow and rear turret 7.7mm machine guns. It also had a max speed of 24mph.

American Tanks:
M3 Stuart Tank- Was a tank that had a 37mm gun, 44.5mm of armor, and a maximum speed of 36mph. It was superior to its Japanese counterpart. Japanese tankers in Burma had a large amount of difficulty dealing with the Stuart. The Japanese came to rely on ambushing American tanks, firing multiple rounds from close range at vision slits, turrets rings, tracks, and other vulnerable points in hopes of knocking out the American tanks before they were themselves annihilated. But that strategy was rarely successful.

Japanese Aircraft:
Mitsubishi A5M4 "Claude"- Was the first modern Japanese carrier fighter. It was one of the best fighters in the world in its day. It proved that Japanese aircraft designers were as capable as any in the world. Its remarkable performance put an end to anti-fighter sentiment in Japanese Navy. But the success of the Claude led the Japanese into a trap that the turning fight was still the correct air tactical doctrine. The "Claude" weighed roughly 2,681-3,684lbs and could reach speeds up to 236 mph at sea level and reach up to 270 mph at 9,845 feet. Was armed with two 7.7 mm type 89 machine guns (cowling) with 500 rounds per gun.

American Aircraft:
F6F Hellcat- It was a war-winning aircraft. Largely responsible for sweeping the Zero from the Pacific skies. It was not as fast as the best U.S. land-based planes, but it had a better climb rate and maneuverability. It had replaced the Wildcat on American fleet and light carriers by mid-1944. It was armed with six 0.50 Browning machine guns with an ample load-out of 400 rounds per gun. There was even a selector switch for each pair of guns, which were aimed using a Mark 8 reflector gunsight. There was even a port for a camera in the inner left wing.

Atomic Bomb:
- Since 1942, more than 100,000 scientists of the Manhattan Project had been working on the development of the atomic bomb. At the time it was the largest collective scientific effort ever taken. Directed by the Army's chief engineer, Brigadier General Leslie R. Groves, the Manhattan Project was also the most secret wartime project in history. After the first bombing test was successful word quickly spread to President Truman who was trying to negotiate a surrender from Japan, and had a to make a decision to either drop the Atomic Bomb on Japan or send in American lives onto Japanese soil to lose many lives. So at 8:15 on August 6, 1945 a US B-29 bomber dropped the first Atomic bomb on Japanese city Hiroshima which instantly killed roughly 80,000 people. But even after 3 days had past the Japanese still didn't surrender which led to the second bomb dropping on Nagasaki which killed roughly 40,000 people and Japan didn't surrender. It wasn't until the U.S. threatened to drop an Atomic Bomb on Tokyo did Japan finally decide to surrender which led to the end of the Pacific War.
